Frequently asked questions

Is the quote really free?

Yes. You tell us about the doors, they get measured and priced properly, and you decide in your own time. No charge and no pressure.

How quickly will I hear back?

Fast. The more detail you give in the form (property type, which doors, the material and style you have in mind, photos if you have them), the faster and more accurate the quote.

How much does a new front door cost in Teesside?

uPVC £650 to £950 fitted, composite £1,000 to £1,700, aluminium £1,800 to £3,000, including frame, hardware, old door disposal and guarantee.

Which door material should I choose?

Composite for most front doors, uPVC where budget leads, aluminium for contemporary houses and wide glazed doors, engineered timber for period properties. The materials guide compares all four.

How long does fitting take?

A straight external door swap takes 2 to 4 hours, French doors and sliders half a day to a day, bi-folds one to three days, and internal doors about an hour each. External doors are made to measure, so allow 2 to 4 weeks from order to fitting.

Are new doors draught-proof and secure?

Yes. Modern doors carry compression seals, multi-point locking and, when specified, 3-star anti-snap cylinders and PAS 24 certification. These should be named in any quote you accept.

Do I need planning permission?

Almost never for like-for-like replacement. Flats, listed buildings and some conservation areas have extra rules, and widening an opening needs building regulations sign-off, all checked at survey.

Can a dropped or draughty door be repaired instead?

Often, yes: hinges, locks, glass units and seals are all replaceable. It is always worth asking before committing to a new door.

Do you fit doors in flats and apartments?

Yes, though flat entrance doors usually need to be fire-rated to FD30 or FD60 standard, and the freeholder or management company may need to approve the style. Both are covered at survey.

Which areas do you cover?

Every TS postcode: Middlesbrough, Stockton, Billingham, Redcar, Saltburn, Guisborough, Hartlepool, Yarm, Eaglescliffe, Ingleby Barwick, Thornaby and the surrounding villages.

What guarantee comes with a new door?

Ten years on the door and the installation is the industry norm for external doors, with moving parts sometimes shorter. The terms should be in writing with the quote.

Can I choose any colour?

Composite comes in a wide standard range with dual-colour options; aluminium can be powder-coated to any RAL colour; uPVC offers a smaller foiled range. Internal doors come primed or pre-finished.
